About the role
Cape Town Luxury Escapes is hiring an AI Platform Engineer to help improve the digital systems that support our luxury travel business. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can combine product judgement, full-stack development, automation, and modern AI-assisted workflows.
You will work on practical platform improvements across customer-facing experiences, internal tools, integrations, reporting, and operational workflows. The right person can understand a business problem, shape a clear technical approach, use modern tools to move quickly, and still apply careful human judgement before anything ships.
The essentials
- Location: Cape Town-based, with regular in-office collaboration.
- Type: Full-time, permanent.
- Focus: Platform engineering, automation, AI-assisted development, integrations, data workflows, and internal systems.
Key responsibilities
- Build and improve reliable tools, workflows, and customer-facing platform features.
- Use AI-assisted development responsibly to speed up delivery while maintaining quality.
- Review, test, and refine technical work before it reaches production.
- Improve integrations, data flows, reporting, and operational systems where they create real business value.
- Debug production issues carefully and communicate clearly with the people affected by them.
- Turn recurring manual work into simpler, more reliable systems.
Requirements and qualifications
Must have
- Strong full-stack engineering experience across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and production debugging.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools to deliver useful work.
- Good judgement around testing, security, maintainability, data quality, and production risk.
- Ability to turn unclear business problems into simple, useful technical improvements.
- Clear written communication and confidence working with non-technical team members.
Nice to have
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PHP, Python, Postgres, MySQL, or automated testing.
- Experience with internal tools, dashboards, workflow automation, reporting, travel, hospitality, or finance systems.
- Comfort working with production environments, logs, releases, and incident investigation.
